About Us

My name is Rebecca and Becca Blooms is my dream. I was spoilt with the simply breath taking variety of tropical flora I was exposed to growing up in Sri Lanka, the Pearl of the Indian ocean. The colours, scents and the textures of the many species of flowers, large ferns and tropical greenery was an experience I took for granted but now value immensely because I learnt a lot about colour and scale growing up in that environment. My mother is a Botanist and plants and flowers were always important in the garden and the house. I learnt about plants from my grandmother who had green fingers and who grew beautiful scented country garden roses in the middle of scorching hot Colombo.

As a child, I watched my mother arranging flowers at church and both my sister and I gradually started arranging flowers in church over the years. Baking and cake decorating is another passion of mine but floral design is an obsession. I eat, drink and sleep flowers and I finally bit the bullet and set up my company ‘Becca Blooms’ in December 2020. I am an ex-scientific researcher in the fields of Neuroscience and Molecular Genetics but I now work as a Business Manager to the Medical Directorate in a leading London Hospital.

Attention to detail, Thinking on your feet and working in a calculated and efficient manner and tenacity are all qualities and training I honed as a medical scientist in Academia and Pharma both in Canada and the United Kingdom.

At Becca Blooms we love engaging with people and creating unique floral designs in keeping with the Customer’s vision/dream. Sourcing fresh and artificial flowers and foliage is a task I particularly relish especially given my close proximity to the New Covent Garden Flower Market in London. Spending 1-5 hrs in a flower market walking among the vendors and row upon row of flowers and specialist foliage is no chore at all, just as creating unique one of a kind designs for any event is.
